Denis Aidoo (Program Director)

Coach Denis has coached Kenner Angels basketball for 20 years and has been our Program Director for the past 6 years. He coached the 2012 11th Grade AAU National Championship team. He also had coaching stints at Pope John Paul II and Loyola University- New Orleans. He graduated from Louisiana State University with a Mechanical Engineering degree. He currently works at the Naval Oceanographic Office as a mechanical engineer. Coach Denis believes that this is all about the players and that as a coach you should be adaptable to their skills and needs. He hopes to help players to raise their level of expectations for themselves and be sure each player feels valued, has a purpose, and feels impactful. His favorite quote is, "Time is the most valuable commodity."

Jamie Thomatis (Associate Director)

Coach Jamie has coached for the Kenner Angels since 1999 and is a former Angel herself. She is an administrator for the Kenner Angels program and is our tournament director. She has had coaching stints at Ursuline Academy, Loyola University- New Orleans, and Davidson College. She is currently the head coach at Mount Carmel Academy. Coach Jamie played for the Kenner Angels from 1992-1998. She played and went to high school at Ursuline Academy where she made the LHSAA All-State team. She attended Middle Tennessee State University where she made both the All-Ohio Valley Conference team and the All-Sunbelt Conference team. She also was recently inducted into the MTSU Hall of Fame in 2021. As a coach, she won the 2016 LHSAA 5A State Championship and is a three time LHSAA Division I State Runner-up all with Mount Carmel. Coach Jamie currently works at Mount Carmel Academy as the Coordinator of Belonging and Inclusion as well has the Head Basketball Coach. Coach Jamie's favorite quote is, "To whom much is given, much is required."

Gabie Huling (Program Coordinator)

Coach Gabie has coached for the Kenner Angels since 2012 and is a former Kenner Angel herself. She is an administrator for the Kenner Angels program. Coach Gabie played at Little Farms Playground growing up and at Dominican for high school. She graduated from Louisiana State University in 2016 with a Bachelor's degree in Sport Administration with concentrations in Commerce and Leadership. She coached at Academy of Our Lady for 8 years. She currently teaches PE, Computer, ACT Prep, and Personal Finance as well as being a department head at AOL. 

Alton Heard

Coach Heard has coached girls basketball for 14 years. This is Coach Heard's fourth year with the Kenner Angels. He graduated from Albany State University in 1994. Coach Heard has won five middle school championships, coached in multiple All Star games in Louisiana, coached a 10th Grade AAU National Championship Runner-up team. He is currently the head coach at Morris Jefferson High School. Coach Heard's favorite quote is, "Your road to success is always under construction."

Cardaiz Green

Coach Green has coached for 24 years including at Walter L. Cohen, Frederick Douglas, L.B. Landry, Landry-Walker, and Edna Karr. He is currently the assistant coach for the Riverdale High School girls basketball program. This is Coach Green's fourth year with the Kenner Angels. Coach Green's philosophy is to bring the best out of a player or team by focusing on their strengthening their weaknesses. 

Chris Levine

Coach Chris has coached girls basketball for 12 years including for JPRD and Archbishop Chapelle High School. This is his fourth year coaching for the Kenner Angels. He has coached a JPRD National Championship team. Coach Chris graduated from the University of New Orleans. He currently coaches at Mount Carmel Academy. Coach Chris's favorite quote is from Dennis E. Mannering and is, "Attitudes are contagious. Are yours worth catching?"

Matthew Young

Coach Matt has coached girls basketball for 20 years including stints at Riverdale, Thomas Jefferson, Tara, South Plaquemines, Grace King, ADEP, and St. John High School. He graduated from Tulane in 1991. He played at Baker high school where he earned All-District, All-Parish, and All-State honors. Coach Matt also won a Coach of the Year award. He currently works at Salmen High School. Coach Matt's favorite quote is, "Where do you plan on being when the ball stops bouncing?"

Courtney Ward

Coach Courtney has coached girls basketball for 11 years including stints at University of Mobile, St. Martin's Episcopal, and Academy of the Sacred Heart. She graduated from Belhaven University in 2012. She played at McMain High School where they made 2 LHSAA State Semifinal appearances. She continued her basketball career at Belhaven University (NAIA Division I) where she finished 3rd all time in assists. She currently works at Academy of the Sacred Heart where she is the head basketball coach. Coach Courtney's favorite quote is, "Offense sells tickets, defense wins games, and rebounding wins championships." -Pat Summit

Camry Gassaway

Coach Cam has coached girls basketball for 12 years including stints at Ridgewood, JPRD Eastbank All-Stars, Metairie Park Country Day, St. Martin's Episcopal, and St. Mary's Dominican High School. Coach Cam has coached multiple YBOA championship teams, a Biddy National Championship, a Biddy National Runner-Up, and an Eastbank Biddy 12u Championship. He is currently the Material Coordinator at Children's Hospital and the assistant basketball coach at Loyola University- New Orleans. Coach Cam's favorite quote is, "You must beg, borrow, and steal the information necessary to be great."

Amber Donnes

Coach Amber was born and raised in Hammond, Louisiana. Amber played for the Kenner Angels her last 2 seasons of AAU, won a State, and National Title all as a Kenner Angel. A 2013 graduate from Saint Thomas Aquinas High School, she was a two-time Louisiana girls basketball state champion and was named 2A Louisiana State Tournament MVP. She continued her educational and athletic career at McNeese State University. While at McNeese, Amber was a member of the 1,000 Point Club. Coach Amber started her coaching career as a graduate assistant at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, and then spent 2 years on the sideline at the University of Louisiana-Monroe. She is currently the Head Coach of her alma mater, Saint Thomas Aquinas High School, where she completed her first season in 2023-24 bringing her program to the Division III (Select) Semifinals game.

Jen Clark Wall

Coach Jen played for the Kenner Angels from 4th - 11th grade. She graduated from Mount Carmel Academy High School, where she helped lead the Cubs to their first state championship title in basketball in 2014. She averaged over 20 ppg during their playoff run. She was named Class 5A player of the year and MVP of the state championship game. She achieved many other accolades during her 4 year varsity career including All-State honors, All-District honors, and MCA Outstanding Spring Athlete in 2013-2014. In 2024, she was included in the Clarion Herald as a top basketball player over the past quarter century. She then went on to attend Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama, where she continued her athletic career as a starter for the women’s basketball team. She currently holds two collegiate records at Spring Hill for most assists in a single game and most assists in a single season. After graduating from Spring Hill, she moved to Birmingham, Alabama to attend Samford University’s Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program. She is a nationally certified and licensed Physician Assistant in the state of Louisiana and works as a PA at Crescent City Orthopedics. She is known by all of her former coaches and teammates to have a strong work ethic and dedication to the sport of basketball. She looks forward to developing the young players within the Kenner Angels Organization sharing her passion for the game and inspiring the next generation of athletes.
